the worst kind of person

nowhere is class, race and gender privilege more succinctly demonstrated than in line at, oh, say, a kinko's. the person who thinks that because they waited in line once already that day at the kinko's, every other time they need help means they can sneak over to the side to just grab the only attendant working, just for a sec, is always a white middle class dude. this also happens at airports, where, i have noticed, the extremely bitchy comment from the 30-ish woman travelling by herself is not greeted with the gratitude it deserves, seeing as how that comment is aimed at preserving the very very thin veneer between us and total barbarism. don't get me wrong, i love several middle class white dudes. not every m.c.w.d. is a line cutter; however, every line-cutter is a m.c.w.d.
