trapped!

it would seem as though an anonymous blog in my first year as an assistant professor would be the ideal place to record and share wicked little observations about the academic flora and fauna that surround me, or to vent about various student pathologies, or to knowingly and tartly expound upon workplace politics.

but nooooooooo, i had to have a blog in which i am not anonymous, although not googlable, in which i am self-consciously aware that my wickedness or tartness could come back to bite me, and in which i must think that everything i write might be pictured coming out of my specifically picturable face by colleagues and students.

of course anonymity has its burdens, too. and of course so does fully naming yourself. but shoot, i seem to have cut myself off from the freedoms that each offers also. . .

I, for one, am thoroughly convinced that you are surrounded by flora and fauna of the wicked variety, that students are (by their very nature) pathological, and that your commentary on workplace politics would be both sweet and tart. If you'd like to verify these convinctions in print, feel free to email them to me at dudelookslikealady@hotmail.com
