sit down, but don't get too comfortable. sit near the edge of your chair. slouch a little. now, tip your head to your right at about a 45 degree angle, and slowly stand up, using your hands on your knees, but don't seem infirm, just world-weary. don't forget to keep your head tipped!!
imagine as though someone is coming toward you. that someone should be someone you know well, but haven't seen in a while, and who both amuses and frustrates you and with whom you have the standard flat-footed sexual chemistry you have with almost everyone. don't forget that this person (and all people) continue to make you world-weary!! your world-weariness, however, should be almost completely content-free; you don't have opinions about actual events or anything, just general weight-of-the-world ennui. now squint, not as if staring into the sun, but as if it's kind of a hazy glare-y day, where if you wear your sunglasses it's too dark, but you can't really go without them, either. your head should remain tipped.
now, as the imaginary person approaches you, look down as if lost in your own thoughts, which remember you do not have, but which nevertheless wear on you. your looking down should be on the axis created when your head is tipped; NEVER, EVER, EVER should your head be upright!! now, look back up at the imaginary person, continuing to squint, and know that later you will bed that person, but that it will feel empty and unfulfilling.
and that's the secret to acting david caruso-style!

Should I one day have a child, this will be the first piece of advice I offer. Well, second, after "don't poop your pants"
I am only a little familiar with Caruso. However, I am amazed you did not mention sunglasses.
