i rode my bike home from a bar the other night. is your mid-thirties too old to be riding around on a bike drunk? is your mid-thirties too old to be dressing up like a bee (see pic to the right)? is your mid-thirties too old to be sleeping in until 10 a.m.? the answer to all of these questions is NO. furthermore, i am able to do all of them footloose and fancy-free because of the amazing magical wonders of birth control. so, just a moment to give a big happy thank you shout out to this technology without which i would never be where i am: drunk, with not a lot of personal dignity, and well-rested.
(not that if i had a kid i wouldn't love him or her or regret him or her or anything like that. i'm just saying i think that if there is any one thing that today i am conscious of Making Me Who I Am, it's that. oh, and also pasteurization.)
