so, the whole reunion trip bagged, i headed to the airport the next morning to cash in my five dollars worth of airport breakfast. (i had an omelette that should be called the Anti-Semite: eggs, cheese, crab. i don't think they have a lot of people avoiding the shellfish-dairy combo in charlotte.)
i paid the balance with a credit card, and when the server brought the receipt back for me to sign, he sort of wonderingly asked me if my last name was italian. when i said yes, he tried out his italian on me, because obviously i know italian and would be impressed by his making the effort to speak my language (?!). so he shyly said, "arrivederci."
lesson #5: some places, i am "ethnic."
anyway, sorry for the long posts. when i got back to new orleans, i was so happy and didn't regret bailing on the reunion. saturday night we went on a date and had sushi and saw "brick."
while i was gone (less than 24 hours), on friday night, i unfortunately missed chad's holding the city in the palm of his hand as he sang a profanity-laced "total eclipse of the heart" at an outdoor karaoke party. damn.
