food and transportation

after the ceremony on jackson square (see below), we took a sweaty walk to galatoires.

we had shrimp rémoulade, shrim maison, crabmeat maison, and oysters en brochette. . . as appetizers. martinis. wine. i had a petit filet for lunch and others had such things as crab au gratin, turtle soup, shrimp clemenceau, etc., etc. dessert was custard, pecan pie and sweet potato cheesecake. after that, we were ready to rumble.

then we got to go out and walk around in the heat again! and then of course we had to stop for refreshment at the hotel bar at the monteleon, which spins like a carousel. slowly, but quite perceptibly. one gets the impression that they conducted a scientific study to determine isn't that romantic and classy? just like us.

and then, justin and edie decided we needed a horse-and-carriage ride. for more romance and class! so while chad and i stayed at the monteleon, j & e went to secure our transportation, returning with a mule-drawn carriage. which we took to the bridge lounge, which as you can see, is swanky not skanky. the bridge lounge is not in a tourist area, which mean that our mule and carriage was part of regular traffic. which is to say, regular new orleans traffic. so we switched lanes, and stopped at lights, and trundled along with everyone else.

the bridge lounge had opened early just for us, and wrote congratulations on the chalk board outside. what happened in the bridge lounge was lots and lots and lots more drinking; me throwing my bouquet to a bunch of oblivious AND indifferent people there for happy hour after work; edie getting them to turn off the sound system for chad and i to dance to their (justin and edie's) tiny little speaker hooked up to their ipod; and a couple of our, uh, skankier friends going home with each other. at some point we also drank some brazilian liqueur that tasted like glazed donuts.
