permanence

after we celebrated independence day on wednesday by eating homemade wontons (since the chinese invented fireworks, right?) and watching white hunter, black heart (because, er, clint eastwood is american?), my email account declared its own independence and has rebelliously decided to stop sending me emails. which means today emails sent to me wednesday have been slowly trickling in, revealing all the questions i have left unanswered and so probably appear rude or distracted or something. hi, everyone who has emailed me!

oh, wait, right, permanence. so anyway, then we painted my office. chad had already knocked out an infelicitously placed wall in there, so painting was the last step in a total makeover. super deluxe awesome. it's kind of pretty much exactly perfectly what i want in an office (minus walls you can write on over and over again), which i have never had before, never having the space or the inclination. living in my very own personal house (i mean OUR house, honey!) has many many advantages, including that for the first time since i was 17, the address on my driver's license matches the physical address where i live. another advantage is that we can knock walls out and paint and make it totally how we want. another advantage is being a member of the bourgeoisie. another advantage is feeling settled. another advantage is not worrying that some stupid jerk is going to tell you that you have to weed or vaccuum or not adopt animals or something. woo!
