in two ways:
1. the person with good intentions is so busy congratulating themselves on how good their intentions are, or alternately distracted by their own smugness, that they cannot see and ameliorate any bad effects their actions may be causing.
2. the person with good intentions, for being so self-centered while claiming to be virtuous, and therefore adding hypocrisy into the mix when they could have just been bad, actually is going to hell, and they trip and fall on the rocky and pot-holey road along the way, and their bodies rot, so that the only thing left is good intentions, which are actual material things, and are flat and hard, and they end up being the pavement. isn't that weird? but true!
