Q & A

Q: how ridiculous is it for an english professor in her mid-thirties to drive fast on her first day of classes listening to iggy pop's "real wild child," and let herself believe for one second that, in fact, she is a real wild child?

A: very. this is something that likens said english professor even more closely to teenage boys, along with her penchant for fart jokes and fanship of pam anderson.

Q: why am i freaked out a tad by the raccoon fur that goes around the outside of my winter coat's hood?

A: unclear. the rest of the thing, all the way down to my knees, is filled with down, and i wear shearling gloves, leather boots, etc. not to mention i eat meat. plus, i have exactly zero love for raccoons. i think what really freaks me out is how good it looks. plus it's butt-cold (not yet ass-cold) and it makes the hood actually a bit warmer and feels very nice when it blows in my face.

Um, ridiculous? Except that I have a *strong* and uncomfortable recollection of doing exactly the same thing with "Lust for Life" in the first week of classes, back in August.
