walkin' with a puppy

being out and about with a puppy is like being the pied piper of nine-year-old girls. you can see them like physically reacting to a puppy from across the street, riveted. and then the world is full of more nine-year-old girls than you even knew, and they're all moving toward you as one, arms outstretched like zombies hungry for brains, intoning, "can i hold the puppy? can i hold the puppy?

Someday you should try walking with an 80 pound greyhound. Then 9 year old girls walk straight up to the dog, start shaking a little, and whisper, "will he bite me?" at the exact moment they reach out to touch him.

Why yes, little girl. He will bite you. We have two kinds of walks. Food walks, and food elimination walks. This is a food walk.

Ok. He doesn't bite. But he will lick people's heads and then burp in their faces. I don't know why.

dad: saturday, at a shelter.

mms: ha! i've commanded lola, dog #1, to "eat the children," and laughed heartily at their fear. muhahaha! and then she basically burps.
