. . .that one reason why there are no famous catholic scientists of the early modern and enlightenment eras is that it wasn't until 1757 that catholics were permitted to read anything that either claimed or was predicated on the claim that the earth revolved around the sun (instead of the earth being the center of the universe)? not exactly the first or last time the church did not act practically or responsively, eh?
