one strong argument for parallel universes: someone call a physicist

republicans expressing worry about obama's presidency repeatedly mention that they don't want their rights to diminish, and that they're afraid of lots of government spending to bail out businesses.

um, does anyone remember the last 8 years?  do they remember a little something called the USA PATRIOT act?  or a little someone named dick cheney who wanted to rewrite the constitution?  or oceans of subsidies to industries (welfare on a very large scale indeed)?? do i live in an alternate universe?  would i know if i did?  is this typical of humans, believing whatever they want to believe, in spite of overwhelmingly contradictory facts?  or, strategically, is this an effort to build momentum for blaming obama for bush's missteps?
