included in the previews was one for "righteous kill," the new movie starring al pacino and robert deniro, neither of whom i would have ever considered myself, like, a fan of, in the sense of fanaticism. i mean, i've enjoyed plenty of movies in which one of them stars, and enjoyed plenty of their respective performances, goodness knows. but for some reason during this preview, i got positively frenzied, frothing at the mouth over the quick shots of them sneering in their leather coats making cynical comments about the life of a cop. maybe i'm more of a fan than i thought i was, or maybe it's the combination of them, the cinematic significance of their having many extended scenes together, and my generally liking cynical leather-coat cop movies (especially when the coats have wide collars), or maybe the particular editor who made the preview is really deeply gifted, but by the end of the preview, i wanted to jump up and shout, "I'LL TAKE IT!!! ANYTHING, JUST TELL ME HOW MUCH!! I MUST SEE THAT MOVIE!! NOW!!" like i was at a revival or something. i wouldn't have thought i was susceptible to cultish emotionality, but i guess we don't always know ourselves quite as well as we think we do, now do we?

please just tell me how much you want for that movie!
we saw "tropic thunder" recently, intrigued by the good reviews and by the protest coverage. it is in fact pretty darn funny, especially if you happen to think that making fun of sanctimony is funny, which i happen to do. before the movie started, we got to see a whole bunch of previews which are, of course, one of the great pleasures in life.

very, very funny.
I always heard they hated each other because early on they were always competing for the same roles.
I also heard that their "scene together" in the movie heat was faked and they were not on set together.
and yes i am a fan boy.
