during this brief time of one step forward, before we slide those two inevitable and entropic steps back, i have only to note that i am participating in a household weight loss contest.  which leads me to realize that it's not good news that i wear the same size that i wore in high school; rather, it would seem that i have gained weight in increments exactly parallel to the development (or expansion) of vanity sizing.
