every time i've gotten a pet f ixed, i've had two pangs. the first one says, "surgery, ah!" and the second one says "I LOVE PUPPIES/KITTENS!" but i still do it, and i remain a staunch advocate of the value of spaying and neutering pets.

poor little maebe spazzed at the vet's this morning, nipping at the receptionist and peeing on the floor. then they tried to squeeze me for the extra $30 test on her kidneys and liver before undergoing anaesthesia--to my mind, the equivalent in usefulness to rustproofing your car. after all, if they get sick, they're in the hospital, right? i've refused it without regrets three times before now, and i refused it again. of course, i always wince, but there it is.
