1. thanks to my local gentle indie radio station, i am just completely sick and tired of the decemberists and the mark knopfler/emmy lou harris albums. chad and i find recreation in making fun of said radio station, and its extremely gentle and earnest DJs who explain things very patiently and who you can tell feel very rebellious for playing, say, "the times they are a-changin'" on the day of the bit anti-war protest in D.C.
2. here is my textual recreation of meryl streep's oscar-nominated performance in the devil wears prada:
i just don't understand how anyone can be so totally incompetent in filling such a simple request. . .i mean when i say i want something, i'm not joking and i don't mean "maybe someday" and i simply expect it to be done because otherwise what am i paying you for? i know i am communicating clearly and so it doesn't make any sense to not be able to get things done when i ask for them. . .it's just very confusing to me how someone can be so completely clueless about getting the most basic tasks accomplished.
3. sometimes i feel as though i have lost faith in new music. and then i get totally rocked. the new tom waits and yo la tengo albums ROKK. holy crap. and you know what? i actually think timberlake's "sexyback" is a totally good and fun pop song. and this character who calls herself pink? very good songs, say i! and now clap your hands say yeah has a new album. . .we shall see. but you know what? every time i listen to the white stripes i go, "halleliujah" (i don't spell it) there is good stuff to come. that is all, just needed to effuse for a mo.
4. you know, "the L word" is a pretty good show. and i only watch it on netflix, so don't tell me what happens in the current season. (though i was shocked--shocked!!--by certain developments in season 3.) but all the main characters are so different from each other, that occasionally when they have one-on-one conversations, i am sort of jarred by these encounters and surprised that they get along individually, and wonder what on earth they have to talk about--e.g. bette with her art and dana with her tennis. and then after surprise and wonder, i consider that maybe it's actually more a show about upper-middle-class los angelenos than about lesbians. eh.
