retro

i'm the only person my age i know who still writes phone numbers in the old fashioned way, with dashes, as in 555-867-5309. everyone else writes them with dots, as in 555.867.5309. when and why did this become fashionable? does this make me seem totally unhip and out of it?

i also want a big plastic square pair of glasses. it feels like the way i write phone numbers is the typographical analog to such glasses. and like maybe my phone is green and hangs on the wall and rings and has a cord and an actual dial that goes around. maybe phone numbers with dashes seem to only go to corded phones (and of course land lines!) talked on by people with big square plastic glasses.
