i'm not fooling around anymore

i'm tired of pretending, so i'm just going to come out and say it.  it's bigoted to think gay people shouldn't be able to get married.  it's immoral to think not everyone should have health care.  i don't just think it's "different" than how i feel; more and more frequently i lose patience for such pluralism and i really don't care about indulging it.  i also don't really think it's an intellectual or academic point.  some people are wrong and some people are right; some people think they are the center of the universe, and others recognize that they are not.  it's wrong to feel poor people deserve what they've got; it's right to think we should figure out ways to make people's lives better.  it's wrong to condone torture.  people who claim otherwise are prevaricators and apologists.  it's so freeing when things are black and white!*

*i don't know when or why leftist politics came to seem "elitist" or "fascist" or some such bullshit (actually i do have some idea), or when it became suspicious to be educated and informed (ditto).  but i have a vague memory of it being a good thing to be kind and generous to lots of different kinds of people, to feel a moral responsibility to the poor, and a vague memory of the constitution being used to expand rights.  i'm pulling for that pendulum to swing around again.
