i am the bear you saw on your drive back from pennsylvania a couple of days ago. i face a number of challenges specific to today's modern bear. right now i am writing to see how you might advise me to avoid freeways in the future. i didn't like the one i saw, which is why you saw me running away from it, but there was some incredibly delicious food there and i am afraid of what will happen the next time i run into temptation. what should i do?
thanks in advance,
bear
...
dear bear,
I saw some houses nearby, right? if i were you, i would dig in their garbage. garbage food is waaayyy more delicious than freeway food anyway. also, don't those woods you live in have some berries or something? i can't remember if you are a vegetarian or not. but there should be plenty of garbage- and woods-related options to keep you away from temptation.
good luck!

dear E in the ROC,
i've been feeling kind of blue lately. i am a college student, and my professor gave me a lower grade than i wanted for the term. but, #1: i tried REALLY hard in the class and #2: i REALLY wanted a higher grade. i don't understand what went wrong.
sincerely,
glum about grades

dear g.a.g.,
oh, dear. well, let me be the one to tell you that #1: sometimes your best isn't good enough, and #2: just because you want something doesn't mean you deserve it. tough, i know. if it makes you feel better, most people never ever learn this and experience their life as a series of thwarted entitlements or personal persecutions.
good luck!

dear E in the ROC,
i'm moving, and my spouse and i have different attitudes toward organization and time management. we want to avoid bickering. what should we do?
yours,
movin' on up
...
dear movin',
that can be difficult. i'd say maybe just try to be nice to each other and play music and have plans that you stick to as much as possible. but don't forget: for sure, one of you is right!
good luck!
elizabeth
