something that happens sometimes
sometimes, one becomes privy to an elaborate interpretations of one's offhand remark made a long time ago. one can barely remember the remark, but can certainly understand how it could have been misinterpreted and one is willing to make up for that misinterpretation. however, one discovers that the (mis)interpretation, left festering, is so disproportionate to the situation, and that the interpretation ascribes such an unwarrantedly monstrous psychic role to one so as to suggest that the listener is negatively obsessed with one, despite one's having explained the misunderstanding, and despite one actually never displaying the pathological traits ascribed to one. as a result, one listens to "wronged woman" music on the way to work, including carrie underwood's "before he cheats" and siouxsie sioux's "here comes that day." one sings along loudly.
