- a lot of people in this country are fat. like, really fat. even the non-fat people are thick and roll-y. has anyone else noticed this? it embarrasses me. do we really have that many calories floating around? do people really have so little vanity and so little energy to spend and such a need to take the world into themselves? i think there should be a news report or something about this. do the authorities know? it feels like the Beginning of the End, like maybe the visigoths will be storming us any second now. it may or may not be an individual physical sickness, i suppose (or an "epidemic"), but it does seem like a society's psychological and economic disease.
- "kill devil hills" is an awfully cool name for a town.*
- if you are a front desk clerk at a semi-crappy motel, and you have lost a reservation, proffering another guest's name of the same ethnicity as the reservation you have lost, even what that other name is very very different from the name on the lost reservation, is quite a bad idea, for several reasons.
*for one year i lived in a town called "warriors mark" (no apostrophe), which is also totally awesome.
