why my birthday is the BEST

1. it is on a day that is easy to remember (cinco de mayo)
2. that day is a holiday, but a holiday for which no one really seems to know the basis, nor care
3. in other words, it's not like having a christmas birthday or something that would totally overshadow
4. that holiday revolves around margaritas and nachos, which=my favorites ever
5. the time of year is newly warm so you can sit outside with your margaritas and nachos
6. the time of year is also the end(ish) of the academic year, and as it happens i work in an industry that revolves around the academic year
7. that time of the academic  year therefore=a good time to drink margaritas and eat nachos
8. i have (so far anyway) none of the hangups about ageing or what have you that make some people not want to celebrate their birthdays*
9. my birthday is the same day as that of karl marx.  i think that is SO COOL.  and every year i think it is even cooler.  i really wish i believed in astrology and celestial fate--but since i am so very much like marx i CAN'T!!!   ba-dump-bump.  oh god, the irony.
10. i like to be the center of attention, and moreover i am good at being the center of attention, and with a birthday like mine, there's ample opportunity (see 1-9)

*when i was, maybe, a sophomore in high school?  a girlfriend of mine gave me a card in which she quoted the pink floyd line "the sun is the same in a relative way but you're older/shorter of breath and one day closer to death," which is a pretty frakking hilarious thing for one 15 year old girl to write to another in earnest.
