let the record show

-that my own personal spouse--m.o.p.s.--answered "yes" when asked if he thinks the cats are really as special as i think they are.  normally, m.o.p.s. says grouchy things about the cats,* so this was a real breakthrough for us.  (i actually do not think the cats are as special as i think they are.  however, they happen to be mine, and i take a great deal of pleasure in making much of them.)

-i recently found a bag of audio tapes (remember those?), many of which have recordings of a radio show i had in graduate school.  these recordings are, like, 7 years old.  i have been listening to them in the car.  and you know what?  i think the jokes i made on-air between song sets are hilarious to this very day.  so i drive around listening to 7 year old recordings of my own self, laughing out loud.  if this isn't narcissism, i'd like to know what is.

*notably, he only says grouchy things.  he actually acts as though he is relatively fond of them.  how strange it must be to be him!
