oh yeah! i remember this! big public university in a tiny town--- tons and tons and tons of 20-yr old white people with popped collars and too-short shorts, cheerful and sociable and resilient if also a bit sly. always with keys and water bottle; earnest but devious and dangerous but charming. the streets are lousy with these slim people with good posture.*
by-the-by, for those of you who, like me, went to college during an era in which grunge was more hip than slutty was, and who shake your heads in amazement and worry at the things college ladies wear today, take heart!! i have seen several young women wearing oversized black t-shirts and looking despondent and pale. there is hope!
*there are, of course, exceptions to all of this.
